Your editorial “Death by needle,” published April 9, is based on a misreading of the scientific literature about the Vancouver experience.

In a recent op-ed in another paper, (New York Times, April 9), one of the authors of the Vancouver study, Martin T. Schechter, expressed his wholehearted support for needle exchange as a necessary part of a comprehensive AIDS-prevention approach.  

If the expert who wrote the Vancouver study supports needle exchange, isn’t it time for The Trentonian to do the same?
